SexLikeReal's automated AI scripts

Alex Novak
Alex Novak

Sex toy scripts and interactive sex toys are a hugely popular feature at SexLikeReal and our goal is to provide high-quality scripts available for every scene. We're achieving this with the help of automated AI scripts using SLR's ScriptsAI tool.

October 2024 Update:

All AI scripts for Gay and Trans content at SexLikeReal have been generated!

June 2024 Update:

We now have AI scripts generated for every suitable scene on SLR (eg. POV, hardcore, etc). Censored JAV scenes have been through same-day processing and generation.

AI Scripting [Nov 2023]

We’ve been reviewing data and feedback related to AI Scripts recently and we’ve gained a few insights. This information is vital to helping us improve the quality and variety of scripts we provide. Here are some interesting things revealed by the numbers:

AI scripts– statistically speaking– are approximately 65% similar to handcrafted scripts.

This means that a script made by our AI will, on average, have about 65% of the same identical motions as a human-made script. Some outliers are higher– up to 78% in some cases. We want this number to be high, but 100% isn’t the goal. Ideally, we want our AI to reliably create scripts that are more and more indistinguishable from human-made scripts, but still offer variety, choice, and a natural feel to the user.

AI scripts tend to have a higher amplitude of motion than human-made scripts.

Breaking that down, amplitude is the peak values of oscillation in a stroking toy. In other words: it’s the distance the toy travels up and down. We’ve found that AI scripts have a tendency to exaggerate these strokes, whereas human scripts tend to have subtler, more nuanced degrees of variation for smaller movements. On one hand, this is one way that our AI may need some refinement. But on the other hand, user feedback has actually been positive about this difference. It gives us another parameter with which to experiment and it may ultimately give us another way of offering more variety and granular control to users who are interested.

So-called “ghost” movements…

A ghost movement is when the script tells the toy to stroke when there doesn’t appear to be any prompt for it in the video. These are admittedly a bit perplexing at the moment, but we are making good progress on nailing down the possible causes and mollifying them. It appears as though the AI is detecting motion before and/or after the ghost movement and misinterpreting it as a stroke. This often coincides with some other noise in the video causing the hiccup, like a moving camera position or a video cut. In short, it’s a solvable problem. We’re confident in our team’s ability to adjust and improve the AI and mitigate this little artifact.

Pacing.

Some users may notice that the AI scripts sometimes struggle to stay on pace during particularly fast movements. They can fall out-of-sync with the frequency of pumps on the screen. This is especially noticeable when immersed in the scene with your attention acutely focused on the cohesion between what you’re seeing and what you're feeling. Naturally, this off-beat dissonance in rhythm can be distracting or immersion-breaking, so we are addressing it. AI works primarily by interpreting data: in this case, in the form of video frames. Faster motion on screen means a dynamic amount of information to interpret within a static number of frames. One hypothesis is that the information is harder for the AI to accurately interpret when the hard limit of the video’s framerate filters the amount of information that it has to work with. As a human, we can infer what the motion ought to feel like frame-to-frame because of our natural human intuition. AI, however, is impartial. It doesn’t make decisions based on a gut feeling rooted in human experience. It can learn, obviously, but it learns based on input. And the input we give it is largely confined to the video format. The takeaway is: we can teach it better and we are already working to do so.

AI scripts are actually better than human-made scripts by beginners.

Interestingly, there seems to be a tipping point in quality between the skill of a human scripter and the AI. Handmade scripts from a green scripter tend to perform lower on average than an AI script for the same content. As the experience level of the human scripter grows, we see an overtake of the AI in terms of performance and reception, on average. What’s cool about that is it gives us a little bit of perspective on how AI stacks up and currently it appears to be somewhere in the middle of the pack. This is promising and encouraging for us. It means we still have a long and exciting road ahead of us, but we can feel confident about our progress so far.

Overall, the outlook is promising.

Despite the aforementioned challenges, the response to our AI scripts has proven to be net-positive. In fact, the response has been comparable to our human-made scripts as of October 2023, when we activated our biggest ScriptsAI update yet. This is good! It means we’re on the right track and our users are generally quite satisfied with the value our AI scripts bring to the SLR ecosystem. We couldn’t be happier about this, and we’re encouraged to make it even better.

Script-making at SexLikeReal

Users who have an interactive sex toy like The Handy used in conjunction with scripts have access the most immersive VR experience possible. We have a steady stream of requests for scripts; not only for the latest releases but for older scenes. It isn't possible for our hard-working team to generate scripts at the rate required. ScriptsAI is one incredible solution toward meeting that challenge, but if you’re interested in script-making, we’ll guide you through all the necessary steps.

What are AI scripts?

Scripts are the files that tell your interactive sex toy exactly how to move to match the VR porn action you see in the video. They're usually created manually, which is a labor of love. SLR's goal is to provide interactive haptic scripts for EVERY scene, so we are using the power of AI to help speed up the process with quality and safety as top priorities. We have made huge leaps in recent months and some AI scripts are regarded to be just as good as manually created scripts.

Thousands of scripts, thousands more to come

We've already added thousands of excellent AI scripts to our content library. Over 40% of SLR users have an interactive sex toy and use scripts at SLR for ultimate immersion. Now, these users have more choice and variety than ever before. With ScriptsAI we can retroactively create a script for every video on our site.

The feedback has been extremely positive. This forum post is an example.

And this reaction from our manual script-creating guru Realcumber speaks volumes:

"These were all fully automated, no manual touch-ups? If so, then this is a pretty huge improvement from the last set. No more harsh strokes anywhere, depths are a lot better matched than previously, and missed strokes in large sections seem to have now all been captured - even obstruction parts are significantly improved. Importantly, variety is still maintained in the script.... These are the best AI versions I’ve seen to date."

How are AI scripts made?

It takes up to two weeks to craft a script by hand. There are very few people with the skillset, and demand is growing fast with interactive sex toys gaining popularity. We trained our AI model on 1,300 handcrafted scripts created over many years and started fine-tuning the algorithm, working hard with script creators and testers to improve the method. We expected it to be interesting, but it turned out to be more impressive than we imagined.

SLR’s head of machine learning is in charge of creating this new and improved algorithm:

"The goal is to automate the creation of scripts for most of the scenes on SLR, if not all of them. The ultimate aim is to fully automate the creation of scripts, but if this is not feasible then at least it will provide assistance to human script-makers. To achieve this, we’re using cutting-edge computer vision and deep learning technology."

Important information:

  • These AI scripts are available for users who have the SLR Premium + scripts subscription or individually at $3.99 per script
  • Dowloads are limited to three crafted scripts and three AI scripts
  • Script icons on thumbnails indicate which scenes feature AI scripts, human crafted scripts, or both
  • AI scripts will be improved all the time as our technology improves - it will always be the latest and best version
  • Buying an AI script gives lifetime access to all updated and improved versions of that script

As always, your feedback is much appreciated - our developers will use it to improve the quality of those scripts.

Want to improve AI scripts?

Download one, edit it using the SLR script-making tool to make it as good as possible, then upload it to SLR!

Instructions for using local script files and downloaded video files:

Place the script file in the same folder as the video file and make sure both files have same title (with .funscript as the suffix for the script file). The script should automatically register with the video and your interactive sex toy.

Instructions for using local script files and streaming playback:

  • Rename the script file to match ONLY the video ID (For Example = 10100.funscript for the Creampie Fantasy video)
  • Place the script file into the “Interactive” folder in either the root directory on Android devices OR in the root directory of the Quest storage OR the “Documents” folder on Windows
  • Stream the video in the DeoVR App

Realcumber Q&A

We also spoke to the VR world’s most-respected script-maker, Realcumber, about the script-making process and where things will go in the future.

How does the process of automated script creation work?

Currently, I focus on and advise my fellow SLR scripters on how to craft the best and most immersive scripts possible for our customers and currently that involves manual hand frame-by-frame scripting for best results.

Previous investigations into the field of automated script making, which have been tested and are currently still being investigated involve a combination of motion-tracking systems and position estimation. These scenes were tested by running them through internally developed software and script output would be analyzed and checked for quality and accuracy.

What are the biggest challenges for automating scripts?

The biggest challenge is trying to convert the 3D motion on screen into single-axis scripts that feel three-dimensional and ultimately immersive enough to blur reality and keep wanting to return to.

Although we definitely want more scripts for our users, it’s vital that we maintain the quality they are accustomed to and that means keeping as high an immersion factor as possible.

There is another challenge that automated scripting will need to overcome and that is the obstruction of views during the action, either through body parts, positioning or various objects interacting within the scene itself. This often obscures the action and prevents the software from accurately transcribing the onscreen movements.

How can we overcome these issues?

It’s tricky. Most current solutions involve a number of tradeoffs to ensure the final product delivers a great, enjoyable, immersive experience for the user. Multi-axis toys are the future but for now, single-axis toys are the focus and an important and significant amount of artistic editing is needed to blend points and toy movement together for an immersive script.

Can AI help?

AI may be able to help if it can help predict points or place points beforehand reliably so that very little editing or checking is needed, if at all - otherwise, it could potentially end up taking more time needing to properly edit.

One solution would be to shoot scenes with scripts in mind from the very beginning. This would ensure the right motions and techniques are used during filming so as to not obstruct views and move toward toy-friendly movements - this would make scripting quicker and therefore easier.

What can SLR users do?

The best thing would be for as many people to join the scripting community as possible.

We also value your feedback. We’d love to hear your constructive advice on where AI needs improvement, or email any questions to scripts@sexlikereal.com

Other than this, SLR users can help by continuing to subscribe and purchase scripts. This supports the whole scripting economy - not only encouraging people to keep creating high-quality scripts but also encouraging directors and studios to shoot content with haptic sex toys in mind.
